Dental Reception – Short Certificate
There are four courses for the Dental Reception Certificate program (DRCP 1000, DRCP 1001, DRCP 1002, DRCP 1003). All four courses must be taken together according to sequence below. There is no option for taking each course individually.
All classes are held on campus (in-person). To register, call 604-323.5322.
Sept–Dec: registration opens mid July
Jan–Apr: registration opens mid November
May–Aug: registration opens mid March
Please note: Summer 2025 schedule (two options)
A. 11 weekends for Saturdays & Sundays classes, May 3–July 20, 2025, 9:00 am–5:00 pm
- First Aid – Standard C with AED (this is held in-person, location TBA ) May 3–4, 2025, 8:30 am–4:30 pm
- Introduction to Dental Reception
- You will learn dental anatomy, terminology, charting, dental treatment descriptions, dental specialties
- Dental Software and Computer Systems
- Learners will work with Exan PowerPractice, a commonly used dental software, and gain hands-on skills in entering and editing patient information; practice scheduling for single and multiple practitioners; produce day/week/month end reports
- Understanding Dental Insurance
- Gain the knowledge necessary to submit accurate insurance claims for single, dual, or multiple coverages, reduce refusals, and improve claim acceptance
Exemptions may be given for the First Aid course if Standard C with AED was taken six months prior to the program start. Email goropesa@langara.ca to determine if you are eligible for an exemption.
B. Evening/Weekday Schedule (6:30 pm - 9:30 pm) in-person classes:
First Aid Training: May 3–4, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm
Introduction to Dental Reception: May 5–Jun 9 (Mon/Wed/Thu)
Dental Software: Jun 11–Jul 14 (Mon/Wed/Thu)
Understanding Dental Insurance: Jul 16–Aug 20 (Mon/Wed/Thu)
Please note:
Students must receive a B- (70%) or greater on each of the three modules (DRCP 100,1001,1002), and an S for First Aid, in order to complete the program. Criteria for assignments, quizzes, exams, and projects will be provided in class on a separate handout. In order to complete the Dental Reception program, students must complete all courses in a single term. Should a student fail a course, they will be required to re-take the program in a different term. There are no options to challenge any exam.
