General Application Requirements (Domestic and International)
- A portfolio is required with the application for admission into the program. This portfolio must include an original, recent drawing of:
- A drawing of your opposite drawing hand (left-handed draws right hand, righthanded draws left hand)
- A portrait of a person you know
- A perspective drawing of one of the rooms in your home.
- A drawing of an animal
- Drawings must be completed with the subject as reference, not from a photograph.
- All students are required to submit original transcripts with their application.
- A letter of reference must be provided as a form of character reference. The academic or professional letter of reference must be original and signed on official letterhead.
Domestic Student Admission Requirements
- Successful completion of a BC secondary program (Grade 12) or the equivalent, or
- Be at least 19 years of age by the first day of the first semester of attendance, or
- Successful completion of an A.B.E. (Adult Basic Education) or G.E.D.
International Student Admission Requirements
Students must demonstrate English-language proficiency with one of the following:
- TOEFL (paper-based) with a total score of 570 or higher, and a minimum of 55 each for Reading, Listening, and Writing (4.0 on Test of Written English)
- TOEFL (internet-based) with a total score of 90 or higher, and a minimum of 22 in Listening, 22 in Reading, 21 in Speaking, and 21 in Writing
- IELTS 6.5 with no band less than 6.0
- CAEL 60 overall with essay 60
- LPI (Language Proficiency Index) Level 4 with essay 24
- IB English A1 or A2 (HL or SL) with a score of 4
- Advanced Placement
- English Language and Composition with score of 3
- English Literature and Composition with score of 3
- LET (Langara English Test) Level 2
- Successful completion of LEAP 8
