Admissions

General Application Requirements (Domestic and International):

A portfolio is required with the application for admission into the program. This portfolio must include an original, recent drawing of:

  • A perspective drawing of one of the rooms in your home
  • Two drawings of animals
  • Two shaded drawings of a person you know
  • Character design - a design of one original character in 3 different action poses
  • 5 pieces of original artwork - the pieces selected should best demonstrate a range of artistic abilities and sensibilities

Domestic Student admission requirements:

  • Successful completion of a BC secondary program (Grade 12) or the equivalent; or
  • Be at least 19 years of age by the first day of the first semester of attendance; or
  • Successful completion of an A.B.E. (Adult Basic Education) or G.E.D.

International Student admission requirements:

Students must demonstrate English-language proficiency with one of the following:

  • TOEFL (paper-based) with a total score of 570 or higher, and a minimum of 55 each for Reading, Listening, and Writing (4.0 on Test of Written English)
  • TOEFL (internet-based) with a total score of 90 or higher, and a minimum of 22 in Listening, 22 in Reading, 21 in Speaking, and 21 in Writing
  • IELTS 6.5 with no band less than 6.o
  • CAEL 60 overall with essay 60
  • LPI (Language Proficiency Index) Level 4 with essay 24
  • 1B English Al or A2 (HL or SL) with a score of 4
  • Advanced Placement
    • English Language and Composition with score of 3
    • English Literature and Composition with score of 3
  • LET (Langara English Test) Level 2
  • Successful completion of LEAP 8
