Contemporary Issues and Trends in Community Recreation

This course explores the role and influence of contemporary issues and trends in society on how public and community recreation is delivered in local communities. Students will examine the concept of 'issues' and 'trends' in relation to their personal values and how these issues and trends impact the role and delivery of recreation services in municipal settings. Students will examine contemporary issues and trends in their local communities and find ways in which recreation intersects within a wider societal context and diverse community values including those of Indigenous communities, longtime residents, and newcomers. Graded S/U.

Registration in this course is restricted to students admitted to the Foundations to Innovations in Community Recreation.
