Career opportunities

This program is designed to bring to light some of the challenging issues women face in Canada and across the globe. Students will broaden and deepen their understanding of gender and equality through learning, critiquing, and challenging different perspectives. By incorporating current affairs, students learn about efforts in feminist scholarship and activism and the significance of equality at home, in the workplace, in the media, and in society.

The program develops skills in researching, analyzing, writing and critical thinking.

Some students go on in areas such as social work, journalism, law, teaching, health professions, government policy, community organizations, business and government consulting in the areas of equity and social justice, and in creative arts such as theatre, video and filmmaking and writing. Many students find what they ‘do’ with Women’s Studies is also related to expanding their everyday lives, world views and skills of analysis, and involvement in communities.
