Effective supply chain management is critical to the success of many companies that operate in international markets. Manufacturers, service providers, and suppliers must carefully manage their resources, operations, and transportation flows to meet the needs of customers.
Langara College Continuing Studies offers a two-year, full-time Post-Degree Diploma program that prepares university and college graduates for careers in this rising global industry. The program is open to international students, Canadian citizens and permanent residents.
Program Overview
The program provides an intensive understanding of global supply chains. Students will learn from professionals in the field about sourcing, procurement, coordination, strategic management, materials management, and the delivery of goods and services, among other topics.
The program curriculum provides students with a combination of specialized supply-chain training and professional business-management studies. The curriculum addresses the core knowledge areas of supply-chain management at a professional practitioner level, and adds a term of supporting business-studies courses in related areas (finance and accounting, marketing, human resources and business management) to develop our graduates' management skills.

- Length of program: Two-year full-time program (including one term of work-placement)

- Langara Credential: Post-Degree Diploma from Langara College Continuing Studies
- Additional designations that may be obtained through this program:
- Canadian International Freight Forwarders Association (CIFFA) Certificate accreditation - requires successful completion of CIFFA exams
- Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) designation course equivalencies for completed courses
- Courses: Includes 827 in-class study hours, 21 required courses (ranging from 18 to 50 hours each)
Work Placement
Program includes a required work-placement term:
- Work placement position to be provided by Langara
- Supervised by supply-chain management employer
- This an UNPAID training position
- 8-10 weeks in one term, with about 20 hours per week at employer’s company

Designations
Certificate in International Freight Forwarding
Graduates of this program who meet the requirements for the associated courses (International Transportation and Trade
SCLP 1204 and Essentials of Freight Forwarding SCLP 1205), and successfully challenge an exam, will achieve a Certificate in International Freight Forwarding from the Canadian International Freight Forwarders Association (CIFFA), which is nationally recognized within the international transportation and international trade logistics industries.
Langara College Continuing Studies SCL graduates get a head-start on SCMP professional designation
Supply Chain Management British Columbia (SCMABC) and Langara College have reached an agreement that would provide an efficient path for graduates of Langara College’s full-time Supply Chain & Logistics Diploma Program to pursue the Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) designation.
The SCMP designation is an internationally accredited certification of strategic Supply chain leadership, and is Canada’s most widely held and sought-after designation in supply chain management.
The agreement applies to graduates of the full-time CS PDD Supply Chain & Logistics Program who have obtained a minimum grade of 70% in each course. The equivalencies accepted are:
- Introduction to Purchasing, Professional Purchasing and Introduction to Logistics & Transportation assessed against SCMA’s Module 2: Procurement & Supply Management
- Introduction to Logistics & Transportation and inventory Control & Materials Management assessed against SCMA’s Module 3: Logistics & Transportation
- Introduction to Operations Management and Inventory Control & Materials Management assessed against SCMA’s Module 4: Operations & Process Management
- Business Communications assessed against SCMA’s Workshop 3: Communications & Relational Skills
Students of the Langara SCL Diploma program are also eligible to apply for SCMABC membership at the reduced student rate of $29.00 + GST. Please contact SCMABC for more information.
