Langara is currently the only 2-year college in Canada to offer a Classical Studies program.

We emphasize an interdisciplinary approach combining historical, archaeological, and literary sources to learn about the ancient Greek and Roman cultures and their wider Mediterranean context.  We deconstruct popular conceptions of ancient Greece and Rome and challenge the antiquated construct of ‘Western Civilization’. We examine how and why these cultures have been so influential on our world today - and how are they still used to promote inequality and dangerous agendas.

We choose to appreciate the Greeks and Romans for who they truly were.
