Description
After developing a foundation in ecological theory, students examine issues in conservation biology, the scientific discipline that focuses on protecting species negatively impacted by human activities. Students engage with major topics, including loss of biodiversity, habitat fragmentation, conservation genetics, wildlife management, and human ecology. As part of the lab portion of the course, local excursions take learning outside of class to explore concepts in the field.

Students from non-science programs who require a lab science credit or a prerequisite for BIOL 1115 are encouraged to enrol.
